MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man was sentenced after a hit and run that killed a 74-year-old veteran in 2023. 

Thirty-four-year-old Nicholas Rice was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday, Jan 24. Rice was charged with hit-and-run causing death. 

Officials said the crash occurred on April 23, 2023,  near 67th and Capitol.

MPD says he was driving the car that killed Larry Markiewicz, the 74-year-old Vietnam veteran. 

An eyewitness at the scene told police she saw two cars driving recklessly, going about 60 or 70 miles, an hour leading up to the crash. 

Court documents show Rice entered a guilty plea.
