Milwaukee Admirals superfan brings hundreds of bears to annual 'Teddy Bear Toss'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a nearly sold-out crowd at the Milwaukee Admirals game as they faced the Rockford IceHogs at Panther Arena Tuesday night.

“Go Admirals!” said loyal fan, Ryan Lindstadt.

For Milwaukee Admirals superfan Ryan Lindstadt, the team's annual "Teddy Bear Toss” is something he looks forward to every year.

“I just basically just grabbed as many teddy bears as I could find and afford, and then just decided to collect them throughout the year,” Lindstadt said.

He’s spent the last six months buying hundreds of teddy bears to throw on the ice following the first Admirals goal of the night.

“Me, personally, probably like 247, but with my brother and sister, we all together have over 400,” said Lindstadt.

It’s a moment the crowd goes wild for.

“It’s really fun to watch our entire Admirals community come together to participate in this, and every year it gets bigger and bigger and bigger,” said John Greenberg, the Milwaukee Admirals president.

The hundreds of bears tossed on the ice are donated to SAFE Wisconsin to help lift the spirits of children in emergency and traumatic situations.

“It’s all for the good cause, you know, you want to help out the kids,” said Anna Henricks, an Admirals fan. “It’s the holiday season, not everyone is as blessed as us, so it’s an exciting night."

Fans rang thousands of cowbells, enjoyed Princess Night and their favorite sport, all while helping their community.

“It’s a lot going on, but I love hockey, so it’s just awesome being at a hockey game,” said Admirals fan Gabe Zielinski. “It’s always nice to come to Admirals games at the Panther Arena.”
