MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's Milwaukee Armed Forces Week, a five-day celebration that honors active military in our area.
To get things started, the Rotary Club of Milwaukee lunch presentation was held at the War Memorial Center Tuesday, May 12.
Leading that presentation was retired major general and current CEO of the center, Brian Winski.
He told us this week serves as a good opportunity for the public to learn more about heroes across our hometowns.
"It's important for the public to connect with those who served," Winski said. "To defend them and to defend our way of life. Very few folks know somebody in the military these days, so we serve as a place to connect them with military when they may not have a relative that could do that."
Winski served our country for nearly 40 years, starting in the Army Reserves here in Milwaukee and eventually as a two-star general for the U.S. Army in 2021.
