Milwaukee Brewers All-Star Freddy Peralta traded to the New York Mets
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Brewers confirmed that they have traded pitchers Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers to the New York Mets for infielder/outfielder Jett Williams and right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat in a press release Wednesday evening, Jan. 21.
The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Matt Arnold.
"Jett and Brandon are two of the top up and coming talents in baseball," said Arnold in a press release. "We are adding both a dynamic athlete and exciting arm to the organization that we see impacting the Major League team for years to come."
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Pat Murphy recently said it would be one of the saddest days in his Brewers tenure if the team had to trade Freddy Peralta but Wednesday, Jan. 21, it appears that is the case.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Brewers All-Star right-handed pitcher is dealt to the New York Mets.
Top prospects in shortstop, Jett Williams, and pitcher, Brandon Sproat, are heading to Milwaukee.
The Mets will also receive another major league pitcher Tobias Myers in the deal.
Peralta is scheduled to make $8 million dollars in the final year of his contract. But a big payday looms, so the Brewers usually make deals before someone becomes a free agent.
