Milwaukee County paratransit service switches to WisGo fare system in January

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Transit Plus paratransit riders can start using the WisGo fare payment system starting Jan. 5, officials announced Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Transit Plus riders can pay for rides using reloadable WisGo fare cards or the Umo app. The system is already used on MCTS fixed bus routes and at transit agencies across Wisconsin.

Riders can add funds online at umopass.com or at some retail stores, including Pick 'n Save, Walgreens, CVS, El Rey and Family Dollar.

WisGo will replace the use of tickets for Transit Plus. The final day to purchase tickets will be Feb. 27, but existing tickets will continue to be accepted throughout 2026. Exact cash fare will continue to be accepted, according to MCTS.

MCTS is holding seven open house events in January where riders can pick up new Transit Plus WisGo cards. Cards remaining after the events will be mailed to registered paratransit riders in early February.
