Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office investigates non-fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Sherman Park

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) –The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies arrived at Sherman Park shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, following a report of shots fired on the park’s basketball courts.

As deputies were securing the scene, a 16-year-old male victim requested medical assistance at a nearby private residence.

Authorities say the victim had sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound while present in Sherman Park and was immediately transported to an area medical center.

Preliminary information obtained by MCSO investigators indicates that shortly before 5:00 p.m., a gray vehicle, possibly a Toyota or Honda, drove recklessly through Sherman Park.

Officials report that when the vehicle was in the vicinity of the basketball courts, a subject fired multiple rounds from the rear passenger-side window.

Preliminary information indicates that a subject on the basketball courts returned fire at the gray vehicle, and that the victim was struck during this exchange of gunfire.

MCSO is actively investigating this incident and asks any member of the public with relevant information to contact Milwaukee County Dispatch at (414) 278-4788.
