CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Milwaukee County Parks is inviting the community back to McKinley Beach for the second annual July 3 Drone Show, featuring an afternoon of family activities followed by a nighttime aerial display over Lake Michigan.
Festivities begin at 3 p.m. with face painting, bounce houses and other family-friendly activities. Food and beverage vendors will also be on-site as temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s.
The drone show is scheduled to begin around 9:15 p.m. following welcome remarks from Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. Officials say the show will feature pyrotechnic drones creating patriotic displays and Milwaukee-themed images synchronized to a soundtrack provided by Radio Milwaukee.
"The July 3rd Drone Show is designed for families, neighbors, and visitors to come together and create lasting summer memories along our beautiful shoreline," Crowley said.
Milwaukee County Parks officials say this year's event will include new pyrotechnic drones and expanded family-friendly programming.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as viewing areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis and parking is expected to fill quickly.
Parking opens at 2 p.m. at the McKinley Marina paved lot for $30 per vehicle and the Coast Guard Station/McKinley Tennis Courts grass lot for $20 per vehicle. Lincoln Memorial Drive will partially close around 8 p.m. and reopen after the event.
If weather forces a postponement, the drone show will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 5.
