RNC ends, summer events continue throughout Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Republican National Convention is over, but some visitors are extending their stay. They'll find the party's continuing all over Milwaukee.
It's a typical evening on Brady Street, with a few signs of what's to come in less than 24 hours.
"I would say amazing food amazing music and yeah, just the energy," said Aaron Stuiber, Brady Street Festival goer.
Brady Street Festival, one of the longest running summer block parties, has a running date this July that's a bit unusual for them.
"That's with the RNC obviously that we just wrapped up and also Harley Fest being every year now instead of every five years. So, Brady Street Fest has adjusted to that," said Alderman Jonathan Brostoff, District 3, Milwaukee.
So, it's a different date, but the same kind of fun.
"We're trying to spread the word loud and clear that even after the convention, we've got a lot of fun stuff going on," said Ald. Brostoff.
Still on the July calendar, it's the EAA, German Fest, Air and Water Show, Milwaukee Brew Fest and Harley Homecoming Fest. There is also Garfield's 502 R&B Festival on Saturday, July 20, and Black Arts Fest MKE on Saturday, August 3.
This is Harley's 121st year, and the parties will take place both in Milwaukee at Veterans Park and in Kenosha at Uke's Harley Davidson.
"To me there's nothing like riding a motorcycle, nothing in this world," said Keith Ulicki, Owner, Uke's Harley Davidson.
Keith Ulicki's the owner of Wisconsin's oldest Harley Davidson store, started by his father in 1930.
"My father would never imagine that we're in this building," said Ulicki.
Ukes will be closed on Monday, but workers will be here getting tents and things set up in the parking lot for the party that starts on Wednesday.
That's a day before Harley's Homecoming in Milwaukee.
"We start Wednesday because the people coming up from the south, we know they get here a day ahead of time," said Ulicki.
Kenosha's parking lot will have bands and food and the opportunity to test drive a 2024 Harley, and inside, it's a look around at their museum filled with old bikes and pictures. There's also a Poker Run, taking riders on a self-guided tour of Kenosha County Parks, and offering prizes.
