MUSKEGO, Wis (CBS 58) - According to the latest Federal Emergency Management Agency numbers, the Milwaukee area has received $195,954,209.47 in funding for individuals and households.

The total number is the second highest FEMA gave out for a disaster in 2025, around $3 million behind the devastating California wildfires in early 2025.

For the wildfires, FEMA approved $164,698,363.59 for individuals and households, and $34,427,534.49 for public assistance grants.

A total of just over $199 million, around $3 million more than the Milwaukee area received for the flooding.

Sonya Janicki and her family live in Muskego and woke up to 18 inches of sewer water in their basement on Aug. 18.

“My emotions were carrying me away and making it difficult to even do normal daily tasks,” Janicki said.

Janicki and her family had to pay around $50,000 in repairs for the basement.

“We got around 20 thousand from FEMA and then an additional 5 thousand from insurance and a couple thousand from wonderful military organizations,” Janicki said. “Even with all of the help we got, we’re about half of where we’re at.”

The clean-up process is still going strong, as the journey to normal continues.

“There’s still drywall, dust, and paint and a lot of clean up yet to do but I feel like we’re getting to the end of the tunnel, like I can see the light at the end of the road,” Janicki said.

Janicki says FEMA was not the only source of help, she wanted to give credit to Pop's Pub, volunteers, the Muskego HS soccer team, Atlas flooring, 258 Renovations, S&K plumbing, Theilmann Heating, the American Legion, and the Air Force Sergeant's Association.
