Hard work and perseverance helped Dawt Iang earn high honors. After leaving her native country Myanmar for a better life the recent South Division High School valedictorian wants to help inspire others and make a difference in the world.
The Milwaukee Public School graduate set herself apart from her classmates, earning an astounding number of scholarships. She’s now preparing for her first semester at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where she plans to major in nursing.
In total, MPS graduates earned more than 86 million dollars in combined scholarship money in 2018. The school says it's a record.
On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Emily Thornton shared Iang’s scholar story.
