UW Health joins CBS 58 to talk the latest health headlines
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Hoan Bridge was lit up orange for Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month Tuesday night.
MS is a disease that impacts the central nervous system. It can lead to numbness, blindness and even paralysis. The scariest things about MS are it has no cure or cause.
Earlier Tuesday night, the MS Society was raising awareness of the disease in downtown Milwaukee.
For the third year in a row, celebrity bartenders served drinks at Blu in at the Pfister Hotel.
It's estimated that more than 20,000 people in our state have MS. One of the people there Tuesday night, Matt Panelli, had cancer in 2013 and then was diagnosed with MS in 2014.
He says he's trying to get people to donate to the cause and plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with a friend to raise awareness.
"Because what the goal is to actually film this climb also and not only do it so we can actually put out and tell this story hopefully just make someone smile and maybe inspire to just try something as simple as taking one step forward," said Panelli.
Part of Tuesday night's sales and all tips will benefit the MS Society.
