Oshkosh man sentenced to 15 years for drug trafficking

OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An Oshkosh man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for drug trafficking while already serving a sentence for a prior conviction.

U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin Gregory J. Haanstad announced Friday that 39-year-old Sherman M. Threets was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge William C. Griesbach on Wednesday, Aug. 7

Threets was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine.

Court records indicate Threets, previously convicted for distributing heroin, began a new drug trafficking operation in Jan. 2022 after being released to a halfway house after an initial 120-month sentence. A subsequent search in April 2022 reportedly led to the seizure of large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.

Threets is also reported to have attempted to recruit someone to falsely claim ownership of the drugs, offering 15 kilograms of methamphetamine in exchange. That person was actually an undercover officer.
