MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Activist groups are speaking out against the Trump administration’s policies.
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Voces de la Frontera announced a two-day, statewide strike Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2 to mark International Workers Day – also known as May Day.
Along with labor unions, students and other community organizations, they aim to continue the momentum built on the April elections, when candidates endorsed by President Trump and Elon Musk lost. t
“Wisconsin, as part of, you know, as we’ve witnessed nationwide, have joined and seen the mass marches that have been organized by 50-51,” said Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera Christine Neumann-Ortiz. “That really represents this growing, diverse group of people. Americans across this country who are facing these attacks on so many different fronts.
The Thursday, May 1, event is just one protest in a network of demonstrations within the Fair Immigration Reform Movement or FIRM.
There are more than 6,000 protests planned this week.
