Racine extends deadline for curbside pickup of flood-damaged items

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Cleanup has been an ongoing process in Racine following heavy flooding on Sunday, Sept. 11. As residents continue to clean water damaged items from their basements, the City of Racine's Department of Public Works announced on Monday, Sept. 19 that curbside pickup of flood-damaged household items has been extended to Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 3:00 p.m. 

According to a press release from officials, the following items can be brought to the curb for a scheduled pickup:

  • Furniture;
  • Mattresses and box springs;
  • Carpeting;
  • Freon-containing white goods, such as refrigerators and freezers;
  • Non-freon-containing white goods, such as washers, dryers, stoves and furnaces;
  • Televisions.

Curbside pickups can be arranged by calling the Racine Department of Public Works Field Office at (262) 636-9126 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Only flood-damaged items are eligible for the pickup service, with the city reminding that items that have not been damaged by flood waters will not be picked up.
