RACINE, Wis (CBS 58) -- A coming-of-age story about staying true to oneself, “Stargirl” celebrates what makes people unique from April 12 through April 21, 2024 at the Racine Theatre Guild (RTG), 2519 Northwestern Avenue, Racine.

Leo Borlock’s life at Mica Area High School has been all about fitting in and keeping the status quo until a new student arrives who calls herself Stargirl. She stands out in every way – from her clothes to her stories, hobbies, and even her pet rat. Her free-spirited, eccentric personality goes against the peer pressure to conform that Leo and his fellow classmates expect. The play is based on Jerry Spinelli’s young adult novel, “Stargirl,” which was published in 2000 and also inspired a 2020 Disney+ movie of the same name.

Under the direction of Nathan Stamper, the cast features Noah Heide as Leo Borlock, Dylana Bauduin as new student Stargirl, Elijah LaVergne as Leo’s friend Kevin McKeon, plus Keanu Nelson as Wayne Parr and Loghan Simonsen as Hillary, the popular students, and Ricardo Morals as Professor, sharing his knowledge with the kids.

Written by Y York, performances take place Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors (62+), and $13 for students (21 and under). Further savings are offered to groups of 12 or more. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during the performance on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased from the Racine Theatre Guild by calling (262) 633-4218, visiting www.racinetheatre.org, or stopping by the box office weekdays from 12 to 6 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to each performance for tickets.
