Roof collapse, flooding destroys special needs school in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A special needs school in Menomonee Falls was destroyed after their roof collapsed and the building flooded on Tuesday morning, Feb. 16. Heavy snow is to blame for it.

According to a post on Facebook, Sonnenberg School on Spring Street, lost everything.

The post says weight from the snow on the roof crippled the support beams, which caused a water main to be struck and the school flooded.

"We have lost our home," the post reads in part.

Sonnenberg is looking to rebuild and start over as soon as they can. They've set up a fundraiser to purchase tables, chairs, sensory items and stimuli to get started. CLICK HERE if you'd like to donate.
