MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some of the southeastern Wisconsin's education leaders met to discuss the ever-growing presence of artificial intelligence or AI, and how to properly teach students how to use it.

Those were the topics at a round table discussion, bringing together leaders from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

They spoke about a new partnership brought by Northwestern Mutal; they're making a new AI focused education center that unites the area schools.

"If you start to build a hub of energy around data science and AI, where the region itself is saying this is important, we want all of our students to have access to these opportunities," said Jonathan Stark, executive director of Northwestern Mutual. "I think that just speaks to the leadership that has envisioned what is possible when we bring these folks together."

Leaders from Northwestern Mutal hope that the program will take off, which will open the way for more corporate partners to allow for even more expansion.
