Officer injured during pursuit and crash involving Whitefish Bay police in Milwaukee

WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Whitefish Bay Police Dept. has released details about a pursuit and crash that took place early Wednesday, July 17 in Milwaukee.

WBPD says that they stopped a car with no visible license plates at around 3 a.m., leading to a pursuit as the driver fled during the stop.

The driver then reportedly failed to stop at the intersection of Belleview and Bartlett in Milwaukee, hitting a Whitefish Bay squad car that had its emergency lights and siren on.

The driver of the fleeing car and the officer in the squad car were both taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges against the driver have been referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.


WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A crash involving a Whitefish Bay police squad car took place at around 3:10 a.m. near Belleview and Bartlett in Milwaukee.

According to our crew at the scene, the front end of the squad car is severely damaged while another car to the side of the squad car is also damaged. The latter car appears to have crashed into a building.

CBS 58 has made calls to Whitefish Bay police for more information, including possible injuries and property damage.
