MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- St. Augustine Preparatory Academy held a grand opening ceremony Thursday, Sept. 24 for its new North Campus, located on the former Cardinal Stritch University site in Glendale, drawing more than 250 donors and supporters.

The campus, a $103 million investment, welcomed about 330 students in grades K4-6 and 9 when classes began on Aug. 17. It will continue adding grades over time until reaching a full K4-12 enrollment of about 1,500 students

In its first year, the campus received nearly 1,300 applications and now has a waitlist of about 250 students, according to the school.

Marisol Alamo, the school's director of outreach, said having a campus in Glendale and Fox Point allows the school to serve families who wanted access to an Aug Prep education. "Now having our own campus here in Glendale and Fox Point is a miracle," Alamo said.

The new campus follows a $25 million fundraising campaign and builds on $78 million previously committed by the Ramirez family and Husco, the school's lead benefactors since its 2017 founding. The school's original South Campus now serves about 2,400 students, up from 595 when it opened in 2017.
