Suspects accused of firing shots at West Allis resident after carjacking vehicle in Milwaukee

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An investigation is underway after police say two carjacking suspects fired shots at a West Allis resident.

The police department says numerous 911 calls were made just after 7 a.m., regarding shots fired near 66th and Hayes.

Officers determined the gunfire occurred near 65th and Hayes, and two suspects had fled on foot.

The suspects were taken into custody shortly after, in the surrounding neighborhood.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the suspects were involved in a carjacking in Milwaukee earlier in the morning and then drove to West Allis, where they attempted to enter parked cars.

While attempting to enter the cars, a West Allis resident confronted the suspects, who fired at the resident while driving away. Police say the suspects drove into some parked cars and ran from the scene.

Several parked cars were struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Allis Police Department at 414-302-8000.
