MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A 14-year-old was injured and two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon following an accidental shooting in Milwaukee.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers responded shortly before 3:30 p.m. to the area near North 85th Street and West Helena Street.

A preliminary investigation found the shooting occurred when a suspect was mishandling a firearm and it accidentally discharged, striking the 14-year-old victim.

The teen suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were arrested. Criminal charges are expected to be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for review.

The investigation remains ongoing.
