Urgent appeal for homes after Wisconsin Humane Society rescues dozens of cats
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Are there dozens of homes in and around Milwaukee ready for a furry new family member? If so, now may be the perfect time to help alleviate a severe situation while finding the perfect new addition to a home.
The Wisconsin Humane Society has announced that it is seeking forever homes for an extraordinary number of cats and kittens recently taken into care. According to the organization's social media updates, the felines have been rescued from a single residence in southeastern Wisconsin, with the number of recovered cats reaching 92 and growing.
Following what WHS described as a concerning situation, nearly 50 cats were removed from an overcrowded home and are now in the custody of WHS, including a group of nursing mothers and their kittens that require immediate medical attention for various conditions such as eye infections and digestive issues.
As the rescue efforts continue, WHS has expressed that while many of the cats are still undergoing treatment, several are ready and eager for adoption. Those interested in providing a loving home to these cats can visit WIHumane.org/Adopt. Animals involved in this particular effort have an asterisk next to their names, though the website also showcases around 200 other cats looking for families across multiple locations.
Beyond adopting, folks can support these cats through donations, which assist with medical care and spay/neuter surgeries, or by becoming foster parents to aid their recovery.
The Wisconsin Humane Society also took to social media to emphasize the importance of responsible pet ownership and encourages anyone overwhelmed by animal care to seek help from professionals or local authorities.
