UW Health launches MRI technologist apprenticeship program

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- UW Health is offering an apprenticeship program for people interested in becoming MRI technologists, providing an opportunity to earn while learning.

The 14-month program pays nearly $26 an hour. Participants need general college coursework and certain science classes to apply. UW Health said the program offers a chance for people looking to enter an MRI program without the usual waitlist of X-ray schools.

"They will learn with me in the classroom with hands-on and scan lab which is a simulation lab to prepare them to go into the clinical setting which is new to UW Health," said Kayle Goeser, program manager at UW Health. "It will help prepare them before they get to a real patient once they're in clinical setting."

Five students will take part in the first apprenticeship program starting in January. The next job posting will be in February.
