WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kevin Sehmer will spend seven years in prison for causing the death of Josh Davies outside a bar in Hartland last year.
Through tears, Sehmer apologized to Davies' family for his actions outside the Hartland bar in 2023. That night, witnesses say he criticized Davies' tattoos, telling him he was going to hell. Then followed Davies outside and punched him in the head, causing him to lose consciousness.
Davies died in the hospital 26 days later.
His wife, parents, and sister spoke at Sehmer's sentencing, expressing their heart break. They were hoping for the maximum sentence, which would have been 15 years behind bars. They said they are disappointed by the outcome.
"Josh is gone forever. We deserve more time than what he's getting today," said Jamie Davies, sister of Josh Davies.
"What he got was not nearly enough," said Edward Davies, Josh's father. "I don't like the verdict at all."
After seven years in prison, Sehmer is sentenced to five years of extended supervision. The judge ordered absolute soberity from him.
