WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Happening now through next weekend is the 41st annual Waukesha Janboree.

CBS 58 is once again a proud media sponsor of this year's event.

On Saturday, the snow and winter weather advisory didn't stop dozens from coming out to try geocaching, a popular outdoor treasure-hunting activity, thanks to the festival.

"We've come multiple years but this is the first time truly participating in all the activities and everything like that," said Casey Miller. "We're about to go find our first geocaching location throughout the city and kind of try it out for the first time. We've never done it before so it's just kind of a fun experience for the family to go and do."

Miller said he was excited to see the trinkets that are in store and waiting to be found.

"I think a lot of people don't understand how much effort the city and the volunteers put into these types of events and I think it's a great way for the community to kind of feel like a miniature family," Miller said.

Across the street, kids and their families were also enjoying the event but staying warm inside at the same time.

"For two weeks we have our plan of all the different events we want to go and check out," said Torrie Hutchison who was finishing up arts and crafts with her children. "It just brings the family together with the holidays and just continuing it on here in Waukesha."

Organizers call the janboree Wisconsin's "premier winter festival" and encourage everyone to try the family-friendly fun for themselves.

"We're all here, we're all in it together, we're all supporting each other in some fashion," Miller said. "We really just need to have fun with it, make some laughs and maybe some new friends along the way."
