'We're ready': Brewers team loads truck with 20,000 baseballs ahead of spring training
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - It might not feel like spring yet here in Wisconsin, but that doesn't mean we can't start getting ready for baseball season.
Pitchers and catchers are set to report to spring training Wednesday, Feb. 11, and members of the Brewers' equipment team are setting up their players for success.
Tuesday, the spring training truck was loaded up before its journey down to Phoenix.
Among the cargo: 60 cases of sunflower seeds, 20 cases of bubble gum, 20,000 baseballs, and roughly 1,000 bats.
"This is a milestone day, we have a lot of fun here, and the reality is, to me, it's sort of a sign that winter is over and spring is here," said Brewers President of Business Operations Rick Schlesinger. "And when I think spring, I think baseball, and so it's a great opportunity to remind the fans that we're coming, we're ready, and we're gonna have a lot of fun this summer."
The Brewers will kick off spring training on Feb. 21 against the Cleveland Guardians.
Opening Day at American Family Field is March 26.
