Winter chill remains most of this week with a light snow chance Monday night

NOW: Winter chill remains most of this week with a light snow chance Monday night
NEXT:

The dangerous cold from the beginning of the weekend might be behind us, but the persistent winter chill will remain most of this week. The coldest wind chills across southeast Wisconsin happened Friday morning when many areas dropped between -45 to -40 with air temps dropping into the teens below-zero. Wind chills Saturday morning dropped to -35 then Sunday morning stayed around -20.

Sunday morning also saw a round of lake effect snow for Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties that lingered into the afternoon in some areas. A few of these locations picked up 1-4" of fluffy snow.

Another snow chance will roll in Monday night into early Tuesday morning. A weak cold front will move across Wisconsin which will bring with it the chance for some flurries or just a few light snow showers. Better chances for snow will happen in the Green Bay area but especially our northern counties could see some snow. A dusting to a few tenths of accumulation cannot be ruled out.

Wind chills are still cold Monday morning. In fact, air temperatures and wind chills are colder than what they were Sunday morning. Lows have dropped sub-zero in many spots with wind chills to about -25. A Cold Weather Advisory is currently in effect for all of southeast Wisconsin until Noon Monday.

High temperatures on Monday might not happen until the late evening hours when the front gets closer when they reach the low teens. Similarly, Tuesday's high might also happen in the morning in the low teens. After that, the rest of the week hangs out in the teens for highs with lows around 0.

The breeze will stay persistent Monday shifting from the NW to the SW from 10-20 mph. That wind stays out of the SW Monday night with gusts to 35 mph, but as the cold front rolls in the wind shifts back to the NW for Tuesday and stays gusty with winds to 30 mph. Finally on Wednesday a lighter wind kicks in from 5-15 mph. The wind will likely keep wind chills well below-zero most of Monday and Tuesday. Our next chance for above-zero or even near-zero wind chills won't be until Wednesday afternoon.
