Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul discusses DOJ investigation into Madison police shooting

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) — Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul said Friday the state's investigation into this week's officer-involved shooting in Madison will be conducted independently and objectively.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice, which Kaul leads, is overseeing the investigation into the fatal shooting.

Speaking in an interview Friday, Kaul declined to discuss specific details of the case, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigation.

"In each of these cases, our goal is to conduct them fully and thoroughly and do so as objectively as possible, and then to get that information to the district attorney so that a charging decision can be made," Kaul said.

Kaul also declined to speculate on how long the investigation could take.
