2 killed after car crashes into tree in St. Francis

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say the 68-year-old driver has died of his injuries.

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say a woman has died and a man is in critical condition after a crash in St. Francis Thursday morning, Aug. 20. 

According to the St. Francis Police Department, the 67-year-old woman was the passenger in a vehicle that struck a tree around 7:21 a.m. near Packard and S. Lake Drive. 

Officials say it's believed that the driver, a 68-year-old St. Francis man, experienced a medical emergency while traveling southbound on Lake Drive. Police say the vehicle crossed the centerline, struck a utility pole, spun, and struck a large tree.

The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition. 

An investigation is ongoing.
