MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This month at the Pabst Mansion, women are taking center stage.

During the month of March, visitors get a closer look at rooms such as the first-floor parlor and the bedrooms of family members Emma and Ellsbeth.

It’s part of the special "Women of the Pabst Mansion" tours being offered each Sunday in honor of Women’s History Month.

The tour also dives deeper into genre paintings on the walls that depict women in everyday life, including members of the family and those who worked in the home.

Rooms such as Ellsbeth’s bedroom give you a closer look at what life was like.

“She’s actually the only child who grew up in the mansion,” Henderson said. “She lived here from when she was about eight-months-old until she was 14-years-old.”

The mansion is also hosting a hands-on event later this month that recreates a traditional pastime from the era.

On Thursday, March 26, guests can participate in a cross-stitch gathering in the sitting room— the same place where Mrs. Pabst would have done her sewing.

“It’s a cross-stitch event where you can either learn to cross-stitch, if you’ve never done it before, or bring your own project. Hang out with us, have some wine and learn a little bit about cross-stitch, its history, and its significance in the Victorian era,” Henderson said.

The Women of the Pabst Mansion tours run every Sunday in March.
