2 children die in Wisconsin of respiratory illnesses; DHS encourages vaccines

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) confirmed Thursday, Dec. 18, the first deaths related to pediatric respiratory illnesses in the 2025-2026 season. 

The DHS says two children from Wisconsin have died. 

The agency says one child died from COVID-19, and the other from the flu. 

The DHS encourages everyone six months and older to get vaccinated against the flue and COVID to protect yourself and others.
