2 men killed when plane crashes in quarry near Monroe Municipal Airport

GREEN COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Green County Sheriff's Office says the two people killed in a plane crash Monday have been identified as a 43-year-old man from Oshkosh and a 41-year-old man from Omro, Wisconsin.
Officials say a preliminary investigation indicates the airplane was inbound to land at Monroe Municipal Airport. The plane crashed in the gravel quarry prior to landing.
Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board remain on scene.

GREEN COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An investigation is underway after a fatal plane crash in the Town of Sylvester in Monroe, Wisconsin Monday night, Nov. 24.
The crash was reported just before 5:15 p.m., according to the Green County Sheriff's Office, near State Highway 59 and Forest Prairie Road. Officials say the area is a gravel quarry north of Highway 59, adjacent to the Monroe Municipal Airport.
First responders reported a large fire involving construction equipment in the quarry and a large field of debris from the aircraft.
The sheriff's office says crews extinguished the fire, and two victims were found dead.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash.
