414 flag returns to City Hall in celebration of 'Milwaukee Day'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The giant 414 flag is now flying over City Hall to celebrate "Milwaukee Day" once again.

It was unfurled over a balcony at City Hall Monday, April 12.

The designer says it's a tribute to the people of Milwaukee, honoring their courage, life and memories during these challenging times.

"We need it. We need something to smile about," said designer Fred Gillich. "We need something to celebrate. I truly believe some of the best people in the world live right here. So if you can go out and find those people, make friends with them and share a drink, I can't think of a more Milwaukee thing to do."

Starting at 4:14 p.m. Monday, Milwaukee's Nomad World Pub is offering free "414" beer while the supply lasts, to anyone who comes in with proof of a COVID vaccination.
