Abundant sunshine will continue for several days

It was another fantastic weekend across southeast Wisconsin with abundant sunshine both today and yesterday. Temps were on the cool side with highs only in the 60s, but we'll be on a warming trend over the next several days.

Temperatures will be around 5 degrees warmer inland each day as winds will be from the southeast. If you didn't get a chance to enjoy the sunshine this weekend, the sunny skies are expected to continue through at least Wednesday. Why so many sunny days in a row? A low pressure system will be cut off from the main jet stream and will be parked over the Carolinas/Mid Atlantic for most of this week.

This will prevent the other low pressure system to our west from progressing east. We'll be in the middle with high pressure firmly in control of our weather. This will keep us dry through at least Thursday morning.

With mainly sunny skies expected over the next three days, we could see a streak of 5 sunny days in a row for the second time this year. The other occurred at the end of February.

Sunny streaks this long aren't that common. Meteorologist Justin Thompson-Gee talked about why seeing this many sunny days in a row is so rare back in February: https://cbs58.com/news/weather-whys-is-it-rare-to-have-this-many-sunny-days-in-a-row
