Airbnb hosts providing COVID-19 responders with places to stay in Milwaukee area
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Airbnb hosts across the world and in the Milwaukee area are offering places for COVID-19 responders to stay.
Airbnb leaders said the company is not charging hosts or profiting off of the bookings. The price of the stay is determined by the hosts. Airbnb said some are offering their properties for free and others are giving discounts. The company is also teaming up with CHG Healthcare, a healthcare staffing company, to help connect workers with housing.
The goal is to give doctors, nurses and other workers a place to stay if they don't want to go home and risk infecting their families.
"A lot of our hosts have their extra space available and are wondering how they can help and how they can help certain demographics, i.e. our frontline stays folks who need a convenient, comfortable place to stay during this COVID-19 pandemic," said Kelley Gossett with Airbnb.
Gossett said there are hundreds of properties available in the Milwaukee area.
More information on the program and how to book a stay can be found on Airbnb's website.
