MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- If you want to see the city from a new vantage point, try cruising down the Milwaukee River on a boat.

As activity on the river is growing increasingly popular, you can rent everything from kayaks to pontoons.

Now, a new boat rental company is making a splash with its unique offerings.

Boat MKE rents out retro, refurbished boats.

"We've got what's called this retro boat. It's a 1955 fully refurbished boat that seats four. We've got a few of them," said Max Malucha, the manager of Boat MKE.

They also rent donuts, a large round boat that seats ten, and a vintage cruiser that seats six.

Malucha finds the boats deteriorating in old barns or for sale on Craigslist, and he refurbishes them to look like new.

When you rent a boat from Boat MKE, you're the captain. A 10-minute class is required for a boating license, and then you're good to go.

Each rental spot is 1.5 hours long.

"Usually an hour-and-a-half is plenty of time to go all the way up the river and come back down and out to the harbor," said Malucha. "Then turn it around and come back. We do allow people to dock at any bar or public restaurant get a bite to eat, use the public bathroom, whatever you got to do."

Boats are available seven days a week.
