Brewers fans celebrate Opening Day with parties at Milwaukee sports bars
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Brewers home opener excitement spread beyond American Family Field on Monday.
Local sports bars and restaurants were filled with fans all day, many taking shuttle busses to the game.
You couldn't tell the Brewers lost by the look of Kelly's Bleachers in Milwaukee post-game Monday.
Fans poured into the bar at the end of the game for drinks, food, and dancing, partying regardless of the final score.
The Brewers home opener is a special day every year for Kelly's Bleachers, as fans take the first shuttle bus of the season.
“It just kind of shows the summers back, even though summer is a month away or whatever it may be. It just gives everybody the same thing to cheer about, and nowadays that’s nice to have,' said Anthony Lucini, the bar's owner.
Fans told CBS 58 they treat the home opener like a true holiday.
"We've been doing it for 20-plus years, tradition. Wisconsin fans are the best, even though maybe the best product hasn't been on the field," said Brewers fan Dustin Phalin.
"You feel like a huge family. Nobody's an outsider, everybody's together, we're all just rooting for the same goal, and we're happy to be out and about. Winter's over, spring has sprung," said Brewers fan Emily Levine.
Several game attendees said the most special part of the day was honoring the late Bob Uecker with a tribute before the game.
