MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers and Republican leaders met earlier this week to discuss a possible agreement to cut taxes. The meeting marked a rare negotiation and indicated potential openness from both sides to reaching a deal.
Meanwhile, the Evers administration faced backlash after issuing guidance cautioning state employees on handling encounters with federal immigration officers. The Department of Administration memo warned workers to be careful if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrive at state workplaces.
Republicans accused Evers of directing employees to obstruct immigration authorities. Also, according to WisPolitics, the recent arrest of a Milwaukee County judge could lead the Trump administration to target additional state officials in Wisconsin.
