Cars removed from third level of partially collapsed Bayshore Mall parking structure
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Drivers whose cars have been stuck in the Silver Spring parking structure here at Bayshore Town Center will soon be getting their cars back after crews wrapped removing their vehicles and equipment on Saturday.
At 8 a.m., crews began lifting the cars on top of the parking structure off with a large crane.
The crews drove the cars and other heavy equipment onto this platform and lowered them to the ground.
Only one driver was eager enough to come and pick up their vehicle right away.
Other vehicles were stored in an ironically, seemingly background floor of the parking garage so they weren't out in the open.
This comes just a few days after vehicles on the second floor were able to drive out thanks to a temporary ramp brought in.
It was just nine days ago that a section of the third floor of the parking structure collapsed, crushing two cars parked on the ground floor.
Amazingly, no one was injured in the incident.
The future of the structure remains up in the air.
Bayshore has not yet said if the structure will be razed and replaced or just repaired.
What caused the collapse remains under investigation.
