Temperatures finally warmed up over the weekend and will continue their warming trend Monday with highs reaching well into the 70s. Those warm temps will add enough fuel to the atmosphere for a storm chance along a cold front that rolls across the state Monday evening. The best timing for any storms looks like 4 PM - 10 PM.
Any storms that do form could be just a touch on the stronger side. A good chunk of the Midwest, including southern Wisconsin, is included in a Level 1 Marginal Risk for severe storms. Gusty wind and some small hail will be the main threats with any storms that develop, there is no concerning tornado threat.
The chance for rain to start May comes after an extremely wet April. Last month went into the 150+ year records as the seventh wettest month on record with nearly 9.50" of rain, that is more rain than we had last August with the record breaking flooding we saw.
