Complaint: Man accused of killing Tremayne Montgomery stomped him after shooting

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A man is charged in the April 4 killing of 40-year-old Tremayne Montgomery outside Fremos Bar in Milwaukee, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday, April 10.

Prosecutors charged 50-year-old Montrel Calhoun with first-degree intentional homicide, felony bail jumping and possession of a firearm by a felon in the shooting near Fond du Lac Ave. and Armitage Ave.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Montgomery.

According to the complaint, surveillance video shows Calhoun confronting Montgomery outside the bar, firing 11 shots and then stomping on Montgomery’s head and hitting him with a pistol after Montgomery fell to the ground. One witness is quoted in the complaint as saying, "Trell! Trell, stop! Damn, Trell! Go, Trell, just go!"

The complaint also says Calhoun then drove away in a black and tan Ford Expedition. Police arrested him the next day at an apartment near Becher St.

Calhoun's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, April 17.
