Non-profit hosts 38th annual Father's Day celebration at Sherman Park
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- People came together in Sherman Park Sunday, June 21, to celebrate all the dads out there!
The gathering was put together by non-profit 'Fathers for Progress,' who provided free food and drinks, free haircuts, live music and fun for the kids.
This is the 38th year of the Sherman Park Father's Day celebration, and "sincerity" was the focus.
"We sincerely want to wish fathers throughout the city a happy Father's Day. We don't get to acknowledge the men in the lives of these young people that are actually playing a major role in a lot of young people's lives," said Milwaukee resident, Ray Mendoza.
Milwaukee County Executive and Democratic candidate for governor, David Crowley, was at Sunday's celebration.
He talked to partygoers about his relationship with his father, saying they didn't always have a close relationship.
He told the crowd perfection isn't what makes a good father, presence is what makes a good father.
