Woman dead following 2-vehicle crash in Fond du Lac County, suspect arrested
CBS 58 FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A person is dead following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway V and Mill Pond Road in the Town of Auburn early Sunday, June 21.
Fond du Lac deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash after one of the people involved in the crash reported that a car pulled into the path of another and that one of the drivers was trapped with a head injury.
Deputies learned upon arrival around 8 a.m. that a car traveling south on Mill Pond Road failed to yield the right-of-way to another traveling north on County Highway V, causing a crash.
The driver of the southbound car, a 21-year-old man from Campbellsport, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The passenger, a 20-year-old Kewaskum man, was treated and released at the scene.
The driver of the northbound car, a 68-year-old Kewaskum woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite life-saving measures, she dead at the hospital.
The passenger of the northbound vehicle, a 16-year-old Kewaskum girl, was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the driver of the southbound vehicle was arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. He was booked into the Fond du Lac
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The operator of the southbound vehicle was arrested on suspicion of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle and was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail.
The crash is under investigation and the names of those involved will not be released until family member are notified.
