MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A group of bicyclists decided to take advantage of the nice weather Thursday and take a four-mile trip around the city.
The ride stretched across District 8, with bikers using standard and Bublr electric bicycles.
Joining in on the fun was Alderperson JoCasta Zamarripa, who says it's a great way to enjoy the outdoors despite the ongoing construction in the area.
"I have to give credit to our Department of Public Works team," Ald. Zamarripa said. "They thought it would be a way to kick off the season, encourage people to ride their bikes in the neighborhood, and to also say, I know this construction is a hassle, but in the end, it will benefit our community."
There are a trio of community bike rides coming up in the summer months, including one at 10 a.m. June 1, led by Mayor Cavalier Johnson at Zeidler Union Square Park.
There'll also be a ride at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, starting at Washington Park, and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, starting at Jackson Park.
