Driver fleeing police crashes, leaving 18-year-old passenger with life-threatening injuries
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A driver fleeing Milwaukee police left his 18-year-old passenger with serious injuries on Tuesday, July 30.
According to police, officers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Sherman Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The vehicle disregarded a traffic light at Florist Avenue, and a traffic stop was initiated. Police say the driver fled and a pursuit ensued.
The fleeing vehicle struck a Milwaukee County Transit System bus near Sherman and Mill, causing it to lose control and hit two more vehicles.
The 18-year-old male driver of the fleeing vehicle was given medical attention and then taken into custody. The front passenger of the fleeing vehicle, an 18-year-old, sustained life-threatening injuries.
The drivers and passengers of the other vehicles involved in the crash did not report any injuries.
Charges against the 18-year-old who fled from police are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
