Updated: 5:00 a.m. Dec. 10, 2025

The winter weather advisory continues this Wednesday morning and has been extended until 9 AM for everyone under the advisory. Jefferson County was added to the advisory Tuesday afternoon for the potential for freezing rain and a glaze of ice. Milwaukee and Waukesha were added to the advisory Tuesday night when heavy snow was falling and quickly accumulating. Walworth, Racine and Kenosha Counties remain out of the advisory.

The rain/snow line ended up only making it as far north as the I-94 corridor, but communities just north of there saw very wet snow. Most areas saw most of their accumulation before 1 AM then we get into a bit of a dry break where a lot of the snow melted as temperatures warmed. Most of the snow reports through midnight Tuesday night ranged from 1-4".

The last round of snow is now moving in. Northern counties like Fond du Lac and Sheboygan are already seeing snow and that snow is moving south. Expect a snowy morning commute. Most of that snow should end by 10 AM and definitely by noon.

Here is a radar image that will update with time:

An additional inch of snow will be possible in most communities with the last batch of snow Wednesday morning.

Milwaukee and Waukesha have been added to the advisory.  Snow and sleet have created issues on roads.  There remains a lot of uncertainty on overall snow accumulation along and south of 94.

Overnight into Wednesday morning there will be a push for more snow across the area.  This will be the last of the accumulating snow before it moves out by 9 am.

Slick roads are expected for Wednesday morning, so use caution and allow extra time on the roads.

We feel pretty confident for 3" to 5"+ within the advisory with locally higher totals.  Southern counties will get some snow this evening before turning over to a rain/snow mix.

There will be another chance late tonight into Wednesday morning; however, only an inch or so will accumulate in the southern areas.

Snow will rapidly take over the viewing area early this evening. Have a look:

While we track snow, temps rise to and just above freezing and that's when snow mixes with sleet, rain and freezing rain and roads area wide become snowy and or slick. This changeover may happen as early as 9pm tonight, and predominately for areas along and south of I-94. While some brief mixing is possible in northern spots, snow will be the main issue there and that's why we have the Advisory for the northern 5 counties that could see snowfall to the tune of 2-6", highest totals expected the farther north you are across the area.

We are in the calm between two rounds of snow. The first was light Monday night and the second arrives Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. The event likely starts as snow then quickly shifts to wintry mix for some central and southern counties. The mix lasts through early Wednesday then switches back to snow for the morning commute.

Temperatures Tuesday will be the warmest since the end of November with highs above freezing starting around the midday hours and staying that mild through early Wednesday. The high for Tuesday might not happen until late evening or around midnight in the mid 30s. Similarly, the high for Wednesday also likely happens in the early morning in the mid 30s before dropping.

There are no big changes to the forecast highlighted below and the snow map remains on track. With up to 2" in southern counties where you see more mix and 2-5" north of I-94 where the precipitation stays mostly snow.

The first round of snow as part of our two-hit storm system is over. It brought a quick round of light snow that only lasted about four hours in any given location. Snow totals ranged from a dusting to around an inch depending on where you live.

Now that the overnight snow is done, we stay for most of Tuesday. Temperatures during this dry time will be the warmest since the end of November with afternoon highs warming past the freezing mark. We stay above freezing most of Tuesday night through Wednesday morning then start to cool Wednesday afternoon.

The precipitation Tuesday evening rolls in as snow first from 4-7 PM. By 7 PM everyone is seeing snow that is starting to switch to wintry mix as the rain/snow line moves its way north.

Northern counties like Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and northern parts of Dodge, Washington and Ozaukee Counties may stay all snow during this evening where areas south of that will see a mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain and plain rain most of Tuesday night.

After 4 AM on Wednesday, the wintry mix will switch back to snow for everyone with a couple hours of just snow possible for the Wednesday morning commute. All precipitation should end by late morning Wednesday. The rate of snow should be too heavy but snow will accumulate quickly Tuesday night, especially in northern counties. A glaze of ice might be possible with some of the freezing rain and sleet. The road temperatures are still pretty cold so any plain rain that falls could freeze on most surfaces. The early evening commute on Tuesday won't be too bad but after 7 PM roads could become tricky. The Wednesday morning commute will be a little more tricky with snow and layer of ice on the bottom in some areas.

Snow and sleet accumulations will amount to less than 2" in some southern counties, especially south of I-94. Our northern counties, where they stay mostly or all snow, will see higher totals with 2-5" possible. Isolated locations could see 6". This will be a fairly wet snow, especially father south, but a bit drier the farther north you go.
