Fond Du Lac police looking for person of interest in reckless shooting of firearm

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond Du Lac Police Department (FDLPD) responded to a disturbance near S. Marr and E. Division St. on Saturday, July 26. 

Officers arrived on scene to learn one person has been transported to the hospital by a personal vehicle for a knife wound and that a firearm was discharged inside a residence.

Police investigated and determined that a firearm was recklessly fired from one apartment and rounds entered two adjacent apartments. 

No additional injuries were reported. 

FDLPD conducted interviews and gathered evidence and determined a person of interest as 22-year-old Tyler D. Niederbaumer, an Elm Grove, WI resident. 

Chief Aaron Goldstien stated in a press release: 

“This kind of reckless and dangerous behavior has no place in our community.  Recklessly firing a gun is not only criminal, but also a life-threatening act that could have ended in tragedy.  FDLPD is fully committed to using every available resource to find those responsible and hold them fully accountable.  The safety of our community will always be our highest priority.”
