Happy Milwaukee Day! A preview of all the fun events

The idea behind Milwaukee Day is simple. Thursday is April 14, or 4/14.

414 is the area code for Milwaukee.

Therefore, every year April 14 is Milwaukee Day.

The idea started seven years ago, and has grown each year since. A number of local businesses are on board, offering special events or discounts for Milwaukee Day.

Brent Gohde, one of the originators of Milwaukee Day, joined us live on the CBS 58 News at 4 to talk about some of the events happening Thursday.  At 4pm, join the community to clean up the area around Escuela Verde, the Urban Ecology Center, and the entrance to the Hank Aaron Trail. People will meet at the school (3628 W Pierce Street) at 4PM, and pitch in until 5PM before heading over to Turner Hall.

At 5:30pm, doors open for a concert at Turner Hall Ballroom featuring six bands:

JAILL

DEF HARMONIC

MIDNIGHT RERUNS

LEX ALLEN

SPACE RAFT

SKAI ACADEMY

Proceeds from the concert and vendor sales will benefit Escuela Verde. The interview just scratched the surface of what is going on for Milwaukee Day. For a complete list, go to the official website
