Hold off on planting with more frosty mornings possible this week

NOW: Hold off on planting with more frosty mornings possible this week
NEXT:

Not much has changed in the weather world as the calendar shifted from the first week of May into the second week of the month. We woke up Monday morning to another round of frost, mainly inland and northern counties where a frost advisory was in place. Lows dropped into the low to middle 30s for some of those areas. Another round of frost may be possible in similar counties Tuesday morning. Don't be surprised if another frost advisory is issued for Monday night.

Wednesday morning will be warmer with clouds and some rain chances but Thursday morning could see another round of frost inland with lows once again dropping into the 30s. It looks like planting might be safe towards the weekend with some better chances for milder lows. High temperatures will be a bit up and down to start the work week. Monday is cool in the low 50s thanks to a lake breeze. Tuesday is briefly warmer with highs around 70 then we drop with a cold front for the middle of the week to around 60.

The lake breeze Monday is a NE wind that is relatively light from 5-15 mph. The south and west wind on Tuesday will bring in the warm air but it will be windy with gusts over 30 mph. Wednesday is still windy but this time out of the NW bringing in the colder air.

Our only chance for rain to start the week will be Tuesday. Scattered showers are likely in the morning with some storms possible in the afternoon and evening. Any storms that do form could be on the stronger side with some small hail and gusty wind.
