ELKHORN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving are some of the busiest at Old Glory Farm in Elkhorn
“The phone is ringing constantly,” said farm co-owner Deanna Scott. “We’re really excited, it’s our favorite time of year. We love everything about it.”
Scott and her husband, Kyle Scott, have been operating Old Glory Farm for nine years. They said they started out with just 6 turkeys and eventually grew to 650 to sell to Wisconsin families for Thanksgiving this year.
“We started just as we wanted really well raised turkeys for ourselves and it’s kinda grown from there,” Deanna Scott said. “We love that personal, directly from where they are raised, experience from our customers.”
“We just hope they find joy in a quality bird that’s locally raised in a humane way,” Kyle Scott said. “We’re just very thankful for all our customers for all the support that we’ve gotten that allowed us to grow.”
The co-owners are also parents who say they involve their children in the process of raising the turkeys and operating the farm.
“Wisconsin is a farming community,” Deanna Scott said. “We love doing it and love raising our kids with it.”
“I hope [our children] find it rewarding like my wife and I do,” Kyle Scott said.
